Julia is the resident Yoga Teacher at Los Clavos Surf Resort, Chinandega, Nicaragua. The resort is situated on a deserted Pacific Beach, away from hustle and bustle and provides excellent opportunities to reconnect with yourself and your yoga practice. Surf beaches are just around the corner.
Yoga
Julia teaches morning Vinyasa Flows/Ashtanga Yoga and afternoon Release/Restore classes. Morning classes are designed to build strength for your practice with weekly workshops looking at key yoga postures. Afternoon classes will stretch you out, leaving you restored and ready to relax for the evening. Julia is a keen Ashtanga practitioner and her classes include a flavour of this traditional practice.
All classes will incorporate meditation in order to improve concentration. This will encourage you to be totally present in your daily life, whether surfing or doing something slightly more mundane. This ensures that our physical practice is truly supported by the spiritual nature of yoga.
All classes accommodate mixed abilities and beginners are welcome. Whether you are at Los Clavos Surf Resort to surf or just for yoga, the stunning setting really is a key feature of your holiday. Join her for a Yoga Holiday; Yoga Intensive Week; An Introduction To Ashtanga Yoga and Meditation; Ashtanga Yoga Development Program. Groups are kept small (maximum 4 people) to ensure personalised attention.
Join Julia each morning for sunrise chanting meditation.
Accommodation
The Los Clavos Surf Resort has 4 comfortable beachfront bungalows, all with private bathroom and large beds. Each of them has their ocean view deck to relax in privacy. We offer shared accommodation with 4 people sharing. Single bungalows are sometimes available on request with a supplement charge. The decor is simple and in keeping with the environment. The bungalows have been built for comfort and coolness. They are made of wood and palm trees, in keeping with the surrounding nature.
Food
The resort is French run and so flavours of French cuisine are mixed with local Nicaraguan products. Mealtimes are a key feature at Los Clavos and the aim is to provide a family atmosphere with food served 3 times a day in the ocean view restaurant.
All food is freshly prepared from local seasonal produce and will provide you with healthy sustenance to supplement your yoga practice. Being so close to a fishing village, we often serve grilled fresh fish accompanied by seasonal vegetables along side a selection of salads with many vegetarian/vegan options. There is an abundance of fresh fruit and juices for everyone. The fridge is always full of cold juices and you can ask anytime for a cup of Nicaraguan coffee. Here is a typical daily menu.
Breakfast: Overnight oats with chia seeds, granola, fresh fruit, yogurt, eggs, toast, juice, tea and coffee
Lunch: Stuffed peppers/courgettes, rice and veg bowl, mixed salad, fresh fruit salad, tamarind juice
Dinner: Grilled fish/chicken, pumpkin bake, sautéed potatoes with herbs, cucumber salad, coleslaw, French apple tart, coffee
